The AMS Leadership Labposium this year focuses on a critical theme: The Future of Montessori Teacher Preparation, Recruitment, and Retention. Over four inspiring days, you'll collaborate and exchange ideas with fellow Montessori leaders, shaping the future of our educational approach.

Our agenda features sessions led by exceptional thought leaders from diverse educational backgrounds. A highlight of the event is a series of three keynote presentations by Joseph Jones and T.J. Vari, addressing teacher retention and development:

• Retention Accelerators: Learn strategies to create a culture where educators thrive, focusing on motivation, inspiration, and energy.
• Invest in Your Best: Explore differentiated investment approaches to prevent teacher burnout, emphasizing collaboration between education programs and school leaders.
• Strategic Blueprints: Participate in a hands-on session applying these concepts. You'll develop Montessori educator archetypes, create job profiles, and design customized professional development plans.

These interconnected sessions offer practical solutions to the teacher shortage, providing immediately applicable resources for both teacher education programs and school leaders.

Labposium 2023 – San Diego, CA (Theme: Innovation)

In January, 2023, 170 school and teacher education program leaders met in San Diego, CA for the inaugural AMS Leadership Labposium 2023. Led by innovator and Google alum, Jaime Casap, the Labposium was designed to support Montessori educators in identifying and prioritizing goals and challenges, questioning their own practices, and establishing frameworks for the evolution of Montessori.

As Jaime said, we can expect “1,000 years of technological advancement in the next 100 years." The students we teach now will not only be living with change, they’ll be the ones creating it.

The question is: will we, as educators, properly prepare them?

2023 Keynote & Facilitator, Jaime Casap

You might recognize Jaime Casap’s name from The Montessori Event 2022. It was a pleasure to have him back as the keynote speakers and facilitator for the inaugural AMS Labposium.

Jaime Casap served as the chief education evangelist at Google for more than 14 years and was the second member of the Google for Education team. In that time, Jaime launched Google’s GSuite tools into higher education and K12 and Chromebooks into education. He is the creator of the Google for Education Transformation Framework, a holistic approach to education transformation.

Jaime is now partnering and collaborating with higher education institutions, school systems, and businesses around the world, helping them build transformational policies and practices to elevate education and bring equity, diversity, and inclusion into their policies and practices. Education is Jaime’s lifelong passion and he continues to impact transformation in the field and inspire a generation of young minds to pursue their dreams.
