For:
Early Childhood, Elementary I – II and Secondary I – II

Spontaneous activity is a key element of the Montessori experience. Children need an opportunity to exercise agency as they construct themselves. In this webinar, we’ll examine the “Four Quadrants of Supporting Spontaneous Activity.” This will give us an opportunity to explore the conditions that promote spontaneous activity, and understand why it sometimes doesn’t occur. We will review philosophies around spontaneous activity, and discuss habits you can practice in your classroom to help foster it.

Learner Outcomes

  • You will reflect on your observation habits.
  • You will examine how often you are providing meaningful work.
  • You will gain a deeper understanding of how to prepare the types of practical life lessons that foster independence in children.
